El 'equipo de Raúl' se impuso hoy, por 4-2, en un partidillo de entrenamiento entre jugadores del Schalke con el que el entrenador, Huub Stevens, quería probar algunos jugadores de las divisiones inferiores, al lado de los profesionales que no están con sus selecciones.
El partido fue el punto culminante de una intensiva semana de entrenamiento del Schalke, en el que Stevens aumentó la carga con los jugadores que tenía a su disposición, aprovechando la pausa de la Bundesliga debida a la doble jornada de selecciones.
El equipo ganador estaba liderado por Raúl y Alexander Baumjohann mientras que en el otro estaba el exmadridista Christoph Metzelder.
Ayer, el Schalke se entrenó en sesiones de mañana y tarde, y, tras el partido de hoy, los jugadores tendrán el fin de semana libre.
El delantero no obtuvo, por ese motivo, permiso del club alemán para desplazarse a Madrid, a la sede de la RFEF en Las Rozas, donde el jueves fueron homenajeados los cuatro jugadores que han superado el centenar de partidos internacionales con la selección española; Andoni Zubizarreta, Iker Casillas, Xavi Hernández y Rául.
El delantero español del Schalke 04, Raúl González, no acudirá este jueves a recoger la medalla que le iba a entregar la UEFA por su condición de centenario con la selección nacional, según informó la Federación (RFEF) en un acto que tendrá lugar en la Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas.
El ariete madrileño, 102 veces internacional, ha justificado su ausencia mediante un correo electrónico. El club 'minero' escribió este mismo miércoles a la Federación para explicar los motivos. El Schalke ha programado mañana un entrenamiento y un partido amistoso debido al parón por selecciones.
De esta forma, al acto acudirán los otros tres jugadores 'centenarios': Andoni Zubizarreta -actual director deportivo del Barcelona- así como Iker Casillas y Xavi Hernández, quienes todavía incrementan su cifra de partidos con la 'Roja'.
El organismo rector del fútbol europeo decidió el pasado septiembre tener un reconocimiento con todos los jugadores 'centenarios' y este jueves, le tocará el turno a los españoles, que recibirán una medalla y una gorra conmemorativa en una ceremonia en la que se espera la asistencia de invitados ilustres e históricos.
Zubizarreta sigue siendo el jugador con más partidos, con 126, aunque Iker Casillas está a sólo uno. El último en entrar en el selecto club fue Xavi Hernández, que ya está en 105 tras adelantar a Raúl González, que se quedó en el 102 que jugó hace cinco años (6/09/2006).
